Ajmer, located southwest of Jaipur, is an oasis surrounded by green hills. Raja Ajay Pal Chauhan built the city in the 7th century A.D., and it remained a significant Chauhan power center until 1193 A.D. After that, Prithviraj Chauhan lost it to Mohammed Ghori, and Ajmer became the home of numerous dynasties. Ajmer is now a major pilgrimage destination for both Muslims and Hindus. The Dargah Sharif-tomb of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, which is equally adored by Hindus and Muslims, is particularly well-known. Ajmer is a cultural and educational hub. Ajmer was chosen by the British for its prestigious Mayo College, which was once only open to Indian nobility. However, now it is one of the best public schools in the country.

A variety of colourful products and remarkable crafts of traditional folk aristsans are for sale, especially during the yearly Urs fair.

Mahila Mandi Ajmer: Ajmer shopping is completed without a visit to Mahila Mandi Ajmer, especially for women. The stores in Mahila Mandi have a wide range of items on display. Everything linked to women can be found in Mahila Mandi Ajmer, from curios, jewellery, antiques, trinkets, traditional veils, tie-dye textiles, adorned shoes, embroidered skirts, fragrances, and more. Throughout the year, the large number of shops that dot this shopping area is packed with ladies.

Ajmer is known for its Pushkar Fair, in addition to the numerous retail districts that have made it a shopper’s paradise. The world’s largest camel fair also features a large exhibition of handicrafts that visitors can purchase as souvenirs. The handmade items and goods are reasonably priced.


Mango Masala: It’s a prominent multi-cuisine restaurant in the area, located on Sardar Patel Marg. The menu is broad, including pizzas, noodles, and North and South Indian cuisine. Madina Restaurant: Located across from the railway station, Madina is a modest open-air restaurant that serves a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. This cafe, which is close to the railway station and specializes in speedy service, is ideal if you need to catch the next train back to your city.

Mango Curry: This is one of Ajmer’s oldest food joints, and it’s also noted for its wonderful ambiance. It’s one of Mayo College students’ favorite hangouts, and it has a laid-back vibe. Dishes to Consider: The Hyderabadi Vegetarian Biryani and Laal Maas are just two of the many delicacies on offer, but there’s plenty more.
